Journal Story - Professor Wells by G.B. Gillean

Rotherham came by the other day. Fascinating how he desires I should be informed of the search efforts.

He also passed me this journal.

My old writings.

Has it been only two weeks? This was the journal used against me. Paranoid ravings of a madman.

The assumption was that I hid the facts of the world I was assigned. They are merely finding malice in my incompetence. At the time of my initial report, I had not determined the true extent. But it is of no use. No pleas of mine will ever find sympathetic ears. Even Rotherham, the surprise ally, is beginning to stray. By the trial even he will have left me.

The apprentices. I wonder what has become of them. They vanished over a month ago now. I wasted so much time deciphering that message…

Only Rotherham and his courier visit me now. Although, having called for my old accomplices, I wonder if there will be other trials. Maybe this is the way of things now. A pity…
