Journal Story - Professor Wells by G.B. Gillean

I hit an unexpected delay while returning today. This resulted in a far shorter trip than I had intended. However, I still managed my usual checks. My hope is to begin construction here soon.

What little Fauna I have experienced to date fascinates me greatly. What might I learn from these seemingly elusive beasts? Indeed, I did not see them again today, but heard in the distance something new. Perhaps soon I shall venture off the beaten trail, but for now I wish to remain close to the signs of life.

I discovered a tool! I cannot speak to its use, but the shape and colors belie a creator. Perhaps some startled native left it, fleeing my approach. I would like to think it an offering of peace. I shall not take it today as I do not wish to appear a thief or scavenger. Perhaps if it remains on subsequent trips I will run some tests and attempt to discern use.

For now I must again return. Next time, I will begin laying the ground work for my lab.
